On this site, you will learn about our capabilities and services. These blog posts will give insights into our ongoing projects and the latest news in machining. For this first post, I’d like to tell you who I am and how I got here – to Vel-Kal.
I worked in medical device operations, manufacturing, supply chain, and R&D for over 25 years; my passion is understanding how things work and how to make them efficiently and at the lowest cost. In 25 years, I’ve seen a lot. I know what a great process looks like, and I have worked through some messy and inefficient processes. I have had great customer experiences and terrible ones. I wanted to take everything I have learned over the years and bring you a supplier experience that exceeds your expectations.
If you ask my friends and colleagues to describe me they might say honest, precise, direct, and detailed. It should be no surprise then to learn that I was born and raised in southern Germany and direct communication and attention to detail are in my DNA. Seventeen years ago I moved to the US with my wife and our newborn (who is now applying to colleges). Today, my wife, two daughters (17 and 14) and I live in Kalamazoo, MI. I enjoy golfing, reading, and cooking German food. You can take the boy out of Germany but you can’t take the German out of the boy. My German upbringing influences almost everything I do; when we work together you can expect honest, prompt feedback to your questions and impeccable processes and quality for your products.
